Faculty Position Opening THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-MILWAUKEE Department of Linguistics Arabic Language. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is seeking an Arabic-language instructor to begin in the fall of 1992. This is a tenure-track position to be filled at the level of assistant professor in the Department of Linguistics. In addition to teaching introductory and intermediate Arabic, there will be opportunities to teach other courses, including advanced Arabic and English-language offerings in the candidate's general area of specialization. Applicants should have the Ph.D. by summer of 1992 and some language instruction experience. Native or near-native proficiency in modern standard Arabic and in English is required. Although applications are encouraged from individuals with training in any relevant discipline, including Near Eastern Languages and Literature, preference will be given to candidates with formal linguistics training and research interests. Salary is competitive and UWM offers an excellent package of employee benefits. The successful applicant will also benefit from an association with the newly established Center for International Studies of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Marquette University. This is a Title VI National Resource Center supported by the U.S. Department of Education.
