I'm currently researching into the Guy Miege's _Great French Dictionary_ (late seventeenth-century) from the English rather than the French end, and would be most grateful if anyone more knowledgeable on the subject of French lexicography could give me references for any standard French dictionaries at the time (and especially any French-English dictionaries published in France that may not be in the British Library). I would also be interested to know of any secondary works I should look into. Thank you Julie ColemanMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
Is there anyone out there who knows which language the Rohingyas speak? I am referring to the Burmese Muslims in the Arakan province of Burma (Myanmar) who have recently been in the news because large numbers of them are fleeing to Bangladesh. The news magazines say that they are descendants of Arab traders and Muslim soldiers, but I have never found a reference to their language.
