 Call for Papers

 NWAVE XXI
 will take place 15-18 October 1992
 at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
 _________________________________________________________

 We plan workshops in:

 o Language and discrimination: multi-media interactive
 materials for undergraduate courses
 o Linguistic analysis of large textual corpora
 o Quantitative discourse analysis
 o Socio-historical linguistics
 o Socio-phonetics

 Further workshop details on request; you may register
 for them when you register for the conference.

 We solicit 1-page abstracts for:

 o General sessions of 30-minute presentations
 o Special sessions (with 30-minute presentations)
 in the following areas:
 - socio-historical linguistics
 - discourse analysis
 - incorporating sociolinguistics into
 introductory linguistics classes
 o A Software Fair, with optional demonstrations
 (Software abstracts should indicate equipment needed
 or supplied, and whether a 60-minute demonstration
 is included)

 CORRECTION
The previously announced date for the joint meeting of the Mid-American
Linguistics Conference and the Conference on Siouan and Caddoan Languages
was wrong. THE CORRECT DATE IS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16-17, 1992.
Papers submitted to the Mid-American Linguistics Conference may be on
any linguistics topic. Those on Siouan and Caddoan languages should be
submitted to that conference. For further information, contact:
