 HILP! 1

Announcement and Call for Papers

The Holland Institute for Generative Linguistics (HIL) announces the first
HIL-Phonology conference, to be hosted at the University of Leiden from 14
to 16 January, 1993.

Abstracts are invited for talks of 30 minutes (which will be followed by
10-minute discussion periods), reporting on innovative, unpublished work in
all areas of phonology. The deadline for submissions of ten abstracts, only
one of which should bear name, affiliation and full address and should be
camera-ready, is 15 September, 1992. Abstracts should be no longer than
three pages.

Approximately twenty papers will be selected for presentation. Speakers
will be partially reimbursed for their travel expenses. HILP! 1 will also
provide accommodation for one afternoon of informal discussion of old
problems, work in progress, etc.

Prospective participants who register beforehand by writing to the address
below or by e-mail will receive the programme and the abstracts well in
time before the conference. There will be no conference fee and a selection
of presented papers will be included in a volume of Conference Proceedings.

 CLIN 1992

	Date : Friday 23rd OR Friday 30th 1992
	Place: ITK (Tilburg University)
	 Warandelaan 2

We are very happy to announce the third CLIN meeting,
which will be held at the Institute for Language Technology and
Artificial Intelligence (Tilburg University) in Tilburg. Depending on
the availability of lecture theatres etc, the third CLIN meeting will
take place either on Friday, October 23rd, or on Friday, October 30th.

The program committee for the third CLIN meeting consists of:

 Jan van Eijck CWI/OTS (020 - 5924052)

Erik Jan van der Linden (013 - 663070)

 Gertjan van Noord RUG (050 - 635935)

 Wietske Sijtsma ITK (013 - 663114)

Ton van der Wouden RUG (050 - 635857)

 Olga Zweekhorst ITK (013 - 663114)

The local organisers of this year's meeting are:

	Wietske Sijtsma
 Olga Zweekhorst

Researchers are invited to present papers on all aspects of
computational linguistics (morphology/syntax/semantics/pragmatics,
computational lexicography, formal languages, grammar formalisms,
natural language processing/generation, machine translation, knowledge
representation, etc.)

The keynote speaker of the meeting has yet to be announced.

Authors should submit an abstract, preferably by EMAIL, to the local
organisers. The abstract should contain the following information:

 (i) a title,

(ii) your name, address and affiliation
(and preferably also an EMAIL address),

(iii) a short (10 - 20 lines) summary of the contents.

All of this should fit on the top half of an A4 sheet.

You can send your abstract to:

	Wietske Sijtsma and/or Olga Zweekhorst
Institute for Language Technology and AI
	P.O. Box 90153
	5000 LE Tilburg
	The Netherlands

Submissions by EMAIL are strongly encouraged. These are to be sent to:

Deadline for submission is September 7, 1992. Notification of
acceptance: September 14, 1992. If you include an EMAIL address,
you will be notified by EMAIL.

As you can see from our requirements, the default language of the
meeting is English rather than Dutch. The reason for this is our
expectation, based on the experiences of previous years, that most
talks will draw audiences with at least one member who does not
comprehend Dutch. Of course, in cases of an all Dutch audience talks
in Dutch will be acceptable.

A volume with proceedings of the second CLIN meeting (November 1991) will
be available at this year's meeting. It is our intention that a
volume of proceedings of CLIN 1992 will be produced in due time.

We are eagerly awaiting your submission and look forward to seeing you
on the CLIN meeting.

The CLIN III organisers.
