 TWO POSITIONS FOR COMPUTATIONAL LINGUISTS

The AI Center of MITRE's Washington D.C. site is seeking two
computational linguists to join our NL team. Our current projects
include research in intelligent information retrieval, machine
translation, software reuse techniques applied to modular NLP
components, and spoken dialogue processing. We have a specific need
for two junior researchers to do directed research and system
development on a Japanese-English MT project and on the discourse
component of a multi-modal user interface with emphasis on speech
analysis.


Qualifications sought:
 excellent programming skills
 knowledge of Lisp and C
 BS/BA or MS/MA in CS or Computational Linguistics
 flexibility and a desire to work in a cooperative environment
 background or strong interest in NLP

IBM's Natural Language Processing group in Bethesda, Maryland, has
full-time, permanent positions open for computational linguists.
Successful applicants will have a strong background in parsing
technology, preferably with experience in implementing real-time,
broad-coverage natural language analysis and generation systems. An
advanced degree (at least Master's level) is required, as is a strong
programming background. Expertise in C and multiple workstation
environments is a definite plus. Proficiency in languages other than
English is also desirable.

Position at MLA International Bibliography: Assistant Thesaurus Editor

Entry-level editorial position. Responsibility for maintenance and
development of designated group of subject terms used in the MLA
International Bibliography, a major reference work in literature,
linguistics, and folklore. REconcile indexing with thesaurus; proofread
and edit subject index.

Required knowledge of thesaurus theory, structure, and design; M.A.,
preferably in general linguistics, good knowledge of at least two
languages other than English; solid background in cultural history.
