Meeting Description:

ICEHL-22 will take place in-person at University of Sheffield, Monday 3 July - Thursday 6 July 2023. This will mark a return to Sheffield, which first hosted the conference's third installment in 1983. All sessions and plenaries, including coffees and lunches, will take place in the same location, at the multi-theatre, centrally located Diamond building.

There will be three plenary speakers:

Dr Mel Evans (University of Leeds)

Dr Mark Faulkner (Trinity College Dublin)

Prof Salikoko Mufwene (University of Chicago)

Further details, including registration fees/info, information on travel and accommodation, as well as suggestions for extracurricular activities, will be made available in due course by way of the conference website.

Final Call for Papers:

The EXTENDED general call for papers to be considered for presentation at ICEHL-22 Sheffield is now open until 19 February 2023. All submissions must be made via EasyAbs:

You can submit a paper for the general programme, or a paper to be part of one of the the four accepted panels/workshops that will form part of the ICEHL-22 Sheffield programme. You do not need to have been in touch with the panel organizers previously to submit to their panels. A description of the panels can be found under the Workshop and panel descriptions tab on the conference website:

If you do wish for your paper to be considered for one of these themes, please specify in the Abstract Classification field and also state so explicitly at the top of your abstract submission. Papers not accepted for a specific panel will subsequently be considered for the general programme.

All abstracts should be no longer than 400 words (excluding references).
