Call Deadline: 12-Mar-2023

Meeting Description:

The JENom workshop series aims at bringing together researchers who are interested in the morphology, syntax, and semantics of nominalizations. Previous editions were held in Nancy, Lille, Paris, Stuttgart, Barcelona, Verona, Fribourg and Lublin. This year, JENom 10 will take place in Nantes (France) on June 5-6, 2023, and it is co-organised by the Laboratoire Linguistique de Nantes (LLING) and the lab Structures Formelles du Langage (SFL, Paris), as part of the 16th edition of The Science Days of Nantes University (Journées Scientifiques de Nantes Université).

Call for Papers:

JENom was initially dedicated to the study of argument structure and aspectual properties of deverbal nominalizations. Recent editions significantly broadened the focus of the workshop so as to include a larger variety of related topics and constructs. JENom 10 will continue along these lines. We invite submissions on any aspect of the study of nominalizations, which may be cast in any theoretical framework. As a special topic this year, we particularly welcome submissions which consider the issue of the size of nominalizations (e.g., nominalized TPs/AspPs vs. nominalized vPs, how big can a nominalized structure be? What is the relationship between nominalizations and the temporal / aspectual domain?, etc…) in both well-documented and lesser-documented languages.

Each talk will be allotted 30 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion. Abstracts should be anonymous and should not exceed 2 pages in length (A4 or letter-size), in 12pt font, with 1-inch/2,5-cm margins, including examples and references. The language of the submissions and the presentations will be English and French. The deadline for submissions is March 12, 2023, midnight CET.
