SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT OF ICHoLS VI A.RESTATEMENT OF PREVIOUS INFORMATION The Sixth International Conference on the History of the Language Sciences (ICHoLS) will take place at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., U.S.A., from Monday, 9 August, to Saturday, 14 August 1993, under the auspices of the University's School of Languages and Linguistics and the North American Association for the History of the Language Sciences (NAAHoLS). Meetings will be held at the Intercultural Center on the Main Campus of the University. As the general topic of the ICHoLS VI, the following has been selected: "FROM THE DIVERSITY OF LANGUAGES TO THE UNITY OF LANGUAGE" The participation fee has been established at US $145.00. Checks or international money orders should be made payable to ICHoLS VI, Georgetown University, and must be received no later than 15 April 1993. Thereafter an additional late fee of US $30 will be charged until 31 July 1993, after which no enrollment for the Conference will be possible. Students, with the appropriate endorsement of their department chair, may register at a reduction rate of 25%, provided their fees of US $114.00 are received before 1 June 1993. As on previous occasions, a volume of selected papers presented at the Conference will be published by the firm John Benjamins, Amsterdam & Philadelphia. A Selection Committee will make the necessary recommendations. B.PROGRESS REPORT ON CONFERENCE PREPARATIONS Approximately 80 speakers from 25 countries on all six continents will present papers in Plenary and Poster Sessions. Several additional lectures in connection with special Conference events have also been arranged. On the day of arrival, 9 August, an informal wine and cheese reception will provide the first opportunity for becoming acquainted. This event will begin at 6 p.m. Formal opening will take place on 10 August at 9 a.m. The Conference will adjourn after the last presentation in the early afternoon of 14 August. C.PRELIMINARY HOUSING INFORMATION Arrangements for accommodations have been made on Campus as well as in hotels/ motels within a 20-minute walking distance from the University. Cost for housing on Campus in air-conditioned rooms is $ 24.00 per night for double rooms or $48.00 for single rooms. Special rates negotiated for Conference participants at hotels and motels range from $ 50.00 to $ 99.00 per night.
