JOB VACANCY: Universitetet i Trondheim
Please distribute this to any potentially interested candidates.

The English Department at the University of Trondheim announces a
new stipendiat position. This is a position in which the primary
responsibility is carrying out research for a dissertation and writing
that dissertation, with the idea that the candidate will have already
completed an MA.

The Department would most prefer a candidate with a background in
English Grammar, understood widely, e.g., modern English,
diachronic studies, text linguistics, discourse analysis, pragmatics.
All other things being equal, a candidate with a project in the field of
pragmatics will be chosen.

The salary is 16,585 Norwegian crowns per month (current rate is
approx. 6.8 crowns per USD).

Among other things, the application must include a thesis proposal.

I would be delighted to fax anyone the official text, or to take any
questions regarding this position. Questions can also be addressed by
telephone to Prof. Nils-Lennart Johannesson at 011 47 7 59 67 92.
The application deadline is April 15, 1993, and this is NOT flexible;
however, the starting date is flexible.
