The Linguistics Department, Memorial University of Newfoundland, is seeking
to make an eight month teaching term appointment effective 1 January 1994,
subject to budgetary approval. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Linguistics (
specialization open) and a demonstrated record of effective teaching and
research publications. Duties to include teaching a variety of linguistics
courses at the undergraduate and possibly graduate levels as well as
research guidance. Deadline for receipt of applications: 15 August 1993. In
accordance with Canadian immigration regulations, this advertisement is
directed to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. Memorial

The Linguistics Department at the University of the Witwatersrand is
offering a short, temporary teaching appointment for a period between
August and the end of October 1993. We need someone to contribute to
a variety of undergraduate courses in the areas of phonology, tonology,
morphology, syntax, language acquisition, and sociolinguistics. A
modest salary is attached to the post and travel expenses will be paid.
