The Department of Linguistics at Stanford University has an opening
for a visiting half-time faculty member in SOCIOLINGUISTICS (rank
open), beginning in January 1994 and extending for four years.

Position: Teaching position at the rank of Assistant Professor in
translation studies (or predoctoral fellowship) on a 3-year, renewable
contract. Visiting appointments for one or two years will also be considered.
Available: now.
Salary: based on the German BAT II a scale.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. (or M.A.) in linguistics (syntax and/or
semantics, descriptive and/or theoretical), native or near native
competence in English and German, some teaching experience; a
specialisation in natural language processing would be welcome.
Responsibility: Teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate
levels, research; service.
