A reasonably careful hand search of state-of-the-art linguistics dictionaries and encyclopaediae has turned up no definition of "kinakeme," not to be confused with "kineme." Working from the possible Greek roots produces no meaningful candidates. I _have_ located one citation containing the term (Plotkin, V. Y. "The Kinakeme as the Ultimate Unit of Language." _Kwartalnik Neofilologiczny_ 25 (1978): 275-88.), and am waiting as patiently as may be for our Inter-Library Loan wizards to find a copy. Can anyone supply either a definition of this elusive term or a citation to a more accessible journal? --Katie Krohn Texas A & M University kkrohnMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuetamuts.tamu.edu
