Further to my earlier request for research sources for my current "Structure of Austronesian" course, I am now soliciting suggestions for sources on migrations to Easter Island, especially sources that also discuss the linguistic aspects of Rapanui and its closest relatives from a diachronic point of view. Thanks to all who replied to the query about switch reference in Austronesian. Carol Georgopoulos carolgMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuecc.utah.edu
As 'belle' is given as an adjective that normally precedes the noun, can someone explain the constructions: a. Ci sono molte belle cose. 'There are amny beautiful things.' b. Ci sono cose molto belle. 'There are very beautiful things.' Why does 'belle' move in b. ? What motivates it? And where is the head in X-bar notation in Italian? For Fall semester, 1994: I am looking for a good, clear, relatively elementary textbook that surveys, explains, poses problems in the various types of discourse analysis. Could I have some suggestions from the list? You can reply privately. Thanks in advance, Alan ============================================================ Alan C. Harris, Ph.
