Readers have raised questions about the Chinese conferences posted here some days ago. Now I am posting this for my friends on the Organizing Committee of the meetings in question for clarification. All inquries are to be sent to the Organizing Committee at the University of Wisconsin- Madison, whose addresses are given at the end of the message. Thank you. *********************************************************************** Questions and Answers regarding ICCL-4/NACCL-7 Q: I have a few questions about the announcement of NACCL/ICCL to be held at UW-Madison in June, 1994. First, is there a limit to regular NACCL/ICCL submissions? For example, can one submit a co-authored abstract and a single-authored one? Second, is the paper for the Young Scholar Award to be presented at the conference (which has not been presented before)? Third, should the paper for Young Scholar Award address the issues of typlogy or can the paper discuss all aspects of Chinese linguistics, theoretically or empirically? A: As for the first question, the answer is YES. That is to say that you can submit a co-authored paper and a single-authored one at the same time. As for the second one, the answer also is YES, i.e. the paper which wins the Young Scholar Award will be presented at the conference and all of the papers submitted for this award should have been neither presented nor published before. As for the third question, there is no limitation for the themes of the papers submitted for the Young Sholar Award. In other words, the theme of ICCL-4/NACCL-7, i.e. typology, is set only for the regular papers submitted for the conference as well as the talks given by the keynote speakers.
