For the ninth year in a row, the Association of Graduate Students in Linguis- tics at the Universite Laval is organizing the student conference Les Journees De Linguistique, which will be held on March the 9th, 10th and 11th 1995 at the Universite Laval in Quebec City (Canada). Les Journees De Linguistique is a conference allowing M.A. and Ph.D. students as well as postdoctorate researchers to present the result of their work in all fields of linguistics, from all theoretical standpoints. Furthermore, once agai n this year, the papers presented at the conference will be published in the proceedings. Les Journees De Linguistique is thus an excellent opportunity to initiate one- self to scholarly communication and publication, or to share and expand one's understanding of the discipline. In addition to the general session which will bring researchers from the Ameri- cas and Europe, a thematic session on SEMANTICS will be held. This thematic se- ssion will allow researchers concerned with any of the various aspects of this field (lexical or grammatical Semantics, Discourse studies, Pragmatics, among others) to present innovative work and discuss their significance. Given the limited space avalaible, the papers that cannot be scheduled in the thematic session will be considered for the general session. A proposal for one 30 minute presentation (including the discussion period) can be sent through mail no later than December 9th 1994. It must include a $CDN 8 cheque covering the registration fees, three copies of an anonymous abstract, and three copies of an information document. This information document will in- dicate the name of the researcher; his affiliation; the title of the paper; the session for which the paper is prepared; if the paper is prepared for the gene- ral session, its field (Phonetics, Phonology, Lexicon studies, Grammar, Seman- tics, Discourse studies, Computational linguistics, Teaching, Translation, So- ciolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Epistemology, other (please specify)); the availability to chair a session; the researcher's full postal and e-mail adress as well as phone and fax numbers, both at the university and at home. The ano- nymous abstract will describe in no more than 20 lines the title of the paper, the relevant session and field, as well as the problem analyzed in the paper, its goals, the demarche and the results. It should also describe, if applicable the theoretical standpoint, the methodology, the data, or whatever important element of the work. The researcher will receive the comments of the organizing committee along with the preliminary program by the middle of January. All written material and the large majority of presentations are expected to be in French. We hope you will be there to participate in another exciting conference!
