 Greetings to the list. I am currently looking for references on markedn
ess and
contrastive analysis and their applications to ESL teaching. I'm specially
 interested
in Russian/English markedness relationship and contrasts in syntax.I'm also
 interested in
 information on who is
currently doing work in this area. I will summarize to the list if there
is sufficient interest.

Does anybody know if the text files on the Italian newspaper cdroms
'Il Corriere della Sera' and 'La Stampa' are ascii text files or
compressed/encrypted text files?

I am currently undertaking research on the visual aspects of cartoons, and
would like to get hold of some examples of cartoons published outside the UK.
Can anyone help by sending me some? (I'm happy to refund postage). Any style,
genre, language - from newspapers, magazines, childrens' comics ...
