1st European Conference on

Formal Description of Slavic Languages

30 November-2 December 1995

Over the last decades linguistics has seen the development of formal
models that
 aim at an explicit description of the complex and interdependent grammatical
 properties of natural languages. The conference will for the first time bring
 together those linguists who are particularly concerned with the formal
 description of Slavic languages. A European forum will be created that will
 ultimately lead to a better communication between formal Slavists, similar to
 the annual Formal Approaches to Slavic Linguistics workshops in the United
 States of America.

Abstracts are invited for 30-minute talks (20-minute presentation plus 10
 minutes for discussion) on issues in syntax, morphology, phonology, and
 semantics of the Slavic languages. Presentation will be in any of the Slavic
 languages, English, or German.

Deadline for submitting abstracts: May 30, 1995

 CONFERENCE ON INTERFACES IN PHONOLOGY

The theme of this conference is the interaction of phonology with the other
components of the grammar, such as phonetics, morphology, and syntax. In
addition to several invited speakers there will be slots for approximately
14-16 papers. Invited speakers who have agreed to participate are:

Sharon Inkelas (University of California/ Berkeley)
Ellen Kaisse (University of Washington/ Seattle)
Pat Keating (University of California/ Los Angeles)
Aditi Lahiri (Unversity of Constance).

Abstracts are invited on one of the three interfaces:
phonetics/ phonology; morphology/ phonology; syntax/ phonology. Papers will
be 30 minutes, followed by 15 minutes discussion. Deadline for submission
of abstracts: January 1, 1995.
Send four copies of a 1-2 page abstract (three anonymous, one camera-ready

The second annual meeting of AFLA (Austronesian Formal Linguistics
Association) MARCH 24 to 26 1995

Abstracts are invited for thirty-minute talks on the topic of the
syntax and/or morphology of Austronesian languages. Deadline for
abstracts is January 9, 1995.

Abstract requirements:
1. Abstracts should be limited to one anonymous 8 1/2 X 11 page
with 1" margins, single-spaced, no smaller than 12 point font.
Please send four copies of the abstract.
2. Please include on a separate page the title of the paper, your
name, affiliation, address, e-mail address, phone and fax number.
