Hello, I am looking for references concerning composition/compoundning in TAGALOG, also concerning the linker "na/ng/nang". The central question is: is there compounding in TAGALOG or is it an attributive construction with linker. And if there are compounds, are they only conventionalised or is there a productive process. Thank you for your help. agnes Kolmer e-mail: a2702177Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuesmail.rrz.uni-koeln.de
I want to ask some native German speakers to tell me how they pronounce some made-up words. If you are a native speaker of something approximating Standard German (I know, I know, somebody will write in to complain that no speaks that natively, but that is just an old wives' tale in my opinion; it USED to be true that every spoke some dialect natively but I have met numerous individuals who really do not) and if you would be willing to help me out, please contact me directly. I will post the findings to the list.Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
By impersonal they, I mean the they in sentences like They speak Russian in Russia. They shoot horses, don't they. and the like. Now, I cannot seem to get an example of a passive with an impersonal they as the (surface) subject. So that, They are/get shot for drug dealing in Iran sounds really strange. I am wondering (a) if this fact has been noticed before or (b) if it is not a fact at all but an illusion on my part.Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
