Does anyone know of any recent or forthcoming work on the syntax of Noun Phrases, in particular with reference to the complement/non-complement/there's-no-such-distinction status of modifiers within NP. I'm principally interested in English, but references to work on other languages are also welcome. Thanks, David Scarratt davidsMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuecse.unsw.edu.au
I recently saw somewhere a quote from Immanuel Kant which I believe is relevant to the current discussion on "innateness". It was something to the effect that "Anyone who posits innateness as a scientific explanation is guilty of laziness of the mind". If Kant said that, he was certainly on the button. Unfortunate- ly, the quote was made with no reference. Can anyone direct me to the correct chapter and verse?Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue

I am looking for data from Danish (pre-1350) with examples of null subjects, Stylistic Fronting, Heavy Subject Postposing and that-trace violations. I need data that has a gloss and a translation into English or modern Danish. The translations can also be in French. Thanx in advance for your help.
