 LECTURER IN EAP/ELT/TESOL

 LANGUAGE CENTRE
 UNIVERSITY OF DURHAM, UK

An experienced lecturer with an excellent track record in setting up EAP
and ELT courses is sought for this new post in the recently created
Language Centre. The appointee will be responsible for developing a
programme of pre-sessional and in-sessional courses in English for Academic
Purposes, Business English courses, and training courses for teachers of
English and other languages. He/she will be responsible to the Director of
the Language Centre (Dr. A. Pugh), but will spend approximately 25% of
his/her time during the academic terms teaching ELT methodology on
undergraduate and taught Masters degree programmes in the Department of
Linguistics and English Language (current chair: Prof. J. Emonds).

Candidates with publications and experience of materials design, especially
in the field of Computer-Assisted Language Learning, may be given
preference. The postholder will be expected to undertake research in an
appropriate field.

The appointment is available with effect from 1 October 1994, or as soon as
possible thereafter, for a period of three years in the first instance.
Salary is likely to be towards the upper end of the Lecturer A Scale
(#13,601 - #18,855 per annum) or, exceptionally, at the lower end of the
Lecturer B Scale (#19,642 - #25,107 per annum).

The Department of Linguistics at Harvard University has been authorized
to make an appointment at the senior level (tenured full professorship),
effective July 1, 1995. Candidates are expected to provide a
distinguished record of publication and teaching in synchronic
linguistics, a strong commitment to current theoretical concerns, and
