Thank you to everyone who replied. This is a summary of the information
for anyone else interested.

Here are some Gaelic / Celtic language BBSs that you might
be interested in. Subscribe to any or all by sending a
message to:

LISTSERVIRLEARN.UCD.IE

followed by the one line of text:

subscribe welsh-l firstname lastname

That should do it. Following are BITNET versions of the above
INTERNET address. You=D5ll probably be interested mostly in the
Welsh-L, but I give you all these just in case. For each, again,
you send to Listserve, and give the command to subscribe,
as indicated above.

CELTIC-LIRLEARN ("The Celtic Culture List") In English.

WELSH-LIRLEARN ("WELSH Language Bulletin Board") In
Welsh & English (plus Breton & Cornish).

GAELIC-LIRLEARN ("GAELIC Language Bulletin Board") Irish,
UK & other users, in English & Irish Gaelic (plus Scottish &
Manx Gaelic).

ITALIC-LIRLEARN ("The Irish Tex and Latex Interest
Conference List") Discussion of Irish text processing.

IRL-NETIRLEARN ("Research Network") Irish research
network.

So for example, the IRL-NET would be joined, again, by message
to listservirlearn.bitnet or listservirlearn.ucd.ie,and message
subscribe irl-net Firstname Lastnamer

They'll send info on how to unsubscribe, or how to set it to
"no mail" while you're on vacation, etc.

The WELSH-L discussion list
is quite useful to keep up with the Welsh language out of Wales and
Patagonia. Officially it is a discussion list for Welsh, Breton and
Kornish matters, mainly linguistics, but also history, cultural affairs
etc. Its policy is, to use Welsh language on any subject and English
language on subjects dealing with the Welsh language.

There is also

CELTLING <acarniemit.edu>

Celtling is an unmoderated email list for the discussion of
theoretical syntax, morphology, phonology, and phonetics of
the Modern Celtic Languages (Irish, Scots Gaelic, Manx, Welsh
 Breton, and Cornish).

WELSH-L has been able to supply me with information on language learning
materials, some Welsh lessons, and a community of Welsh speakers including
one here in Perth. Thank you everyone. Mari
