UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE, UK FACULTY OF ENGLISH University Lectureship or Assistant Lectureship in English Language Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer or Assistant Lecturer in English Language to take up appointment from 1 March 1996. The person appointed will be expected to contribute to the Faculty's research and teaching in two of the following areas: the structure and varieties of Modern English; the history of the English Language; literary linguistics; corpus linguistics. Either appointment is for three years in the first instance. In the case of a University Assistant Lecturer the appointment may be renewed for a further two years. All holders of this post are considered for possible accelerated promotion to the office of University Lecturer during the course of their tenure. The post of University Lecturer may be renewed to the retiring age after the first three years. The pensionable stipend for a University Assistant Lecturer is *14,756-19,326* pounds sterling and for a University Lecturer *17,813-27,473* pounds sterling pa. Candidates should expect to share the teaching of the year-long graduate introduction to phonology and one additional subject each term - one at an advanced graduate level.
