Linguist would like to apologize for posting Geoffrey Nunberg's
column on LINGUIST which is to appear in Natural Language and
Linguistic Theory (LINGUIST 6.1436). The posting was inadvertant,
the result of a miscommunication between editors. As a result, it
went out before the NLLT editors had given their permission, and was
headed by a personal note from the author which was not intended for the
list. We sincerely regret these mistakes.
