A new electronic discussion list, FRANCOFIL, has been launched by the
Department of French at the University of Liverpool, UK. FRANCOFIL aims
to be a general forum of discussion for scholars and teachers working in
all areas of French and Francophone Studies. Contributions to the list
may be in either English or French, and we welcome discussion not only
of cultural, linguistic, literary, social, historical and philosophical
issues, but also of practical and pedagogical matters relating to our
discipline. We would also like to encourage the sharing of information
about new resources or conferences and other events, and to act as a
notice board for job announcements. The list managers, from whom further
information may be obtained, are Kay Chadwick (e-mail:
ckcliverpool.ac.uk) and Tim Unwin (e-mail: tunwinliverpool.ac.uk).
If you wish to subscribe directly to the list, send a message to the
following address:

The subject-line should be left blank, and the text of your message should
be in the following format:

SUBSCRIBE FRANCOFIL (FIRST NAME) (LAST NAME)

Shortly after subscribing to FRANCOFIL, you will receive a welcome message
which confirms your membership. Please keep this message, as it provides
essential information about the functioning of the list.

Une nouvelle liste de discussion, FRANCOFIL, a ete lancee par le departement
de francais de l'universite de Liverpool, Angleterre. L'objectif de FRANCOFIL
est de constituer un forum general d'echanges, ouvert aux chercheurs et aux
enseignants travaillant dans tous les domaines des etudes francaises et
francophones. Les contributions a la liste peuvent etre redigees en anglais
ou en francais. Nous invitons les echanges de points de vue, tant sur des
questions culturelles, linguistiques, litteraires, sociales, historiques ou
philosophiques, que sur des problemes pratiques ou pedagogiques. L'objectif
de la liste sera egalement de favoriser la communication de renseignements
ayant trait aux nouvelles ressources, et de disseminer des annonces de postes,
de colloques ou d'evenements importants. Les administrateurs de la liste, a
