Console Must Go On! In spite of the things going on in Paris at the moment, we (the local organisation and the SOLE board) have decided to go on with CONSOLE IV as planned originally. We feel that postponement of the conference would create even bigger problems. To circumvent some potential problems we take the following measures: -speakers arriving at Charles de Gaulle Airport on WEDNESDAY AFTER- NOON will be picked up by somebody from the SOLE board. We'll be there from late in the afternoon until early in the evening to collect people on a meeting point at TERMINAL 1. -Anybody who is stuck somewhere can call LEA NASH 44935376 (Paris). We'll try to arrange something. -The first two days of the conference will be in Paris X as planned. The local organisation will take care of transportation. The third day will NOT be at Paris VIII, but at the accomodation site ENS. -To all the speakers: please inform us before tuesday how, where and when you will be arriving in Paris. -We will raise the conference fee by a small amount (about 30 Francs) for the extra expenses the strike forces upon us (but this will save you transportation costs in Paris). We must note here that any delays or cancellation of flights in or out of Paris are the resposibillity of the airlines and not of the Parisian universities or SOLE. Of course, if the strikes are resolved next week, all of the above does not apply. We hope to have a good conference in spite of everything. If you are not a speaker and able to come, please do. Though Paris is not so appealing right now, the talks will be worth it.Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
