I am interested by the automatic identification of acoustic features of languages (more precisely of African Languages). I am looking for recent references on the subject, as well as internet sites where such references can be found. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you. Dear Linguists, If anyone of you knows how to import large files from other databases into ShoeBox, please inform me! When I tried to do that, ShoeBox accepted only 146 records and cut off the rest (about 4000). Any pointers to people or mailing lists that I could address with this question would also be very useful. Thank you very much in advance! Sincerely, Ari SolovyovaMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
The other day, I encountered the following English examples. (A) Whose book do you talk about? (B) Who do you talk about 's book? The acceptability of (B) was surprising to me since I thought that such an example was always ungrammatical. Presumably, it is allowed in colloquial speech. I would like to know acceptability of the following examples. I would appreciate it if you send me your judgement by e-mail. (1) You talk about WH book --> 1a. Who do you talk about 's book? 1b. Whose do you talk about book? 1c. Which do you talk about book? 1d. What do you talk about book? (2) You were talking to WH sister --> 2a. Who were you talking to 's sister? 2b. Whose were you talking to sister? 2c. Which were you talking to sister? 2d. What were you talking to sister? (3) You were talking to WH woman's sister --> 3a. What woman were you talking to 's sister? 3b. Which woman were you talking to 's sister? 3c. Whose woman were you talking to 's sister? (4) You were talking to WH woman's sister --> 4a. What woman's were you talking to sister? 4b. Which woman's were you talking to sister? 4c. Whose woman's were you talking to sister? (5) You were talking to WH woman's sister --> 5a. What were you talking to woman's sister? 5b. Which were you talking to woman's sister? 5c. Whose were you talking to woman's sister?
