Notice to subscribers: LINGUIST is now on vacation ("on holiday" to
those who don't speak an American dialect of English) until Jan. 2,
1996. Any messages that we receive in this period will be posted
when we reopen on Jan 2. From Jan 2 to Jan 8, there will be only
2 staff members posting, so we may have to prioritize messages, posting
first those with a deadline (e.g., job announcements, conference
announcements). We appreciate your cooperation with this procedure...
