Thanks to all who responded to my query regarding resources for rock 'n roll slang. I found two very helpful books THE DICTIONARY OF AMERICAN POP/ROCK Arnold Shaw Schirmer Books, 1982 and ROCKSPEAK compiled by Tom Hibbert Putnam Publishing, 1983 Many of you recommended J.E. Lighter's recently published and almost definitive slang book RANDOM HOUSE HISTORICAL DICTIONARY OF AMERICAN SLANG. However, I also found Stephen Glazier's new book WORD MENU, also published by Random House in 1992 helpful. I also accessed Internet newsgroups and got some interesting (if not terribly useful) responses. Thanks again for your many responses.
