UNIVERSITY OF EDINBURGH CENTRE FOR COGNITIVE SCIENCE TEMPORARY LECTURESHIP IN NEURAL NETWORKS/COMPUTATIONAL LINGUISTICS/ FORMAL SEMANTICS Applications are invited for a temporary lectureship in the Centre for Cognitive Science. CCS is the only postgraduate centre in the UK devoted entirely to teaching and research in cognitive science. CCS offers a one year MSc-course in "Cognitive Science and Natural Language" and a three year interdisciplinary PhD programme. Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent experience) or expect to have submitted their dissertations by Sept 1995 and be able to teach and supervise MSc and PhD students in one or more of the following areas: computational linguistics, formal semantics, neural networks. Preference will be given to candidates who complement available expertise in the Centre and who have a clear commitment to interdisciplinary research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two modules in the MSc course, to supervise MSc projects in his/her area and to contribute to the Centre's research programme. The post is available from 1 October 1995 to 30 September 1996. The appointment will be on the Lecturer A scale (14,756-19,326 pounds per annum, under review). The starting salary will depend on age, qualifications and experience. Provision is available for membership of the University's Superannuation Scheme. Since this is a one year appointment, we can only consider applications from EU residents for reasons having to do with work permits.
