Dear netters, in a book edited by Peter T. Daniels and William Bright, The world's writing systems, NY/Oxford 1996, I just read the term ETHNOSCIENCE that looked new and unknown to me. Can anybody tell me what this is? And what is the difference between E. and Ethnology and Ethnography? Thank you for your hints. Please send them to Ulrich.H.Wassner at uni-muenster.de Thank you again Ulli WassnerMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
Dear linguists, I am looking for languages that have a velar stop characterized by an additional feature that could be described as 'emphatic', 'ejective', 'injective', 'glottalized' or 'pharyngealized' but lacks this kind of stops in all other places of articulation. Thanks a lot for your help, Carsten Peust Seminar of Egyptology Goettingen cpeustMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuegwdg.de Carsten Peust Seminar of Egyptology and Coptology Goettingen, Germany cpeust

HEARN.NIC.SURFNET.NL> Subject: linguistics of Internet! is there a linguist who has dared to list, analyse, etc. the special terms, phrases and abbreviation being created -- almost daily - by communication on the Internet? IMHO, not yet, because linguistic scientists are a cautious lot. BTW, i'll bet non-scientists have already done it! gene || Keeping a daily journal helps cope with "information overload." || Makes information accessible, avoids schedule conflicts, missed dates. || Free PC software, email "sqn35net
