Austrian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (OFAI) Vienna, Austria RESEARCH POSITION IN NATURAL LANGUAGE ENGINEERING A research position is to be filled in the Natural Language Processing research group from October 1996. The position is associated with a EU financed project and will be full time for 24 months, with prospects for an extension. The position is open to citizens from any EU- or associated country. The project aims at developing a system which allows citizens easier access to their pension information which is stored in multiple databases. At OFAI, the development of a German language access component is one of the central tasks. The candidate should have a university degree in computer science or computational linguistics, experience in the field of natural language processing and in LISP programming is required. Knowledge of German is expected, a native speaker would be preferred. Salary will be in the range of 30000 ECU per year (before taxes). The successful candidates will work on different projects in the areas of information access and navigation, message extraction and understanding, controlled language checking, and grammar engineering. The candidates should have a background in the development of research or application prototypes. Es imprescindible que el candidato tenga fuertes y demostrables conocimientos de programaci'on de aplicaciones en el 'area de la tecnolog'ia de la lengua.
