========================================================================== CALL FOR PAPERS FLAIRS-97 Special Track on Natural Language Engineering Daytona Beach, Florida May 10-14, 1997 Papers are being solicited for a special track on Natural Language Engineering at the 10th International Florida Artificial Intelligence Research Symposium (FLAIRS-97). Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: - Spoken language understanding and production - Text processing - Language generation - NL engineering for Web applications - Integration of NL with other modalities PROGRAM COMMITTEE C. Zadrozny (IBM) (co-chair) SUBMISSIONS Interested authors should submit electronic version of their manuscripts in either plain text or postscript (not encoded) by October 30, 1996. If electronic submission is not possible 5 copies of hardcopy manuscripts received by October 30, 1996 will also be accepted for review. We are planning a session for paper presentation as well as a posters session. Full paper submissions should be no more than 15 double spaced pages in length; extended abstracts for poster sessions can be up to 4 pages, including figures. Please include a cover page with title, author(s) name(s), street and email address(es), and affiliation(s). In case of multiple authors, all correspondence will be sent to the first author unless otherwise requested. Authors desiring anonymous review of their sumbissions by the program committee can achieve that option by simply avoiding references to self or organization in all but the attached title page. Papers will be refereed and those accepted for presentation will appear in the conference proceedings. Notification of acceptance will be mailed around January 15, 1997. Authors of accepted papers will be expected to submit the final camera-ready copies of their full papers by February 15, 1997 for publication in the conference proceedings. Following FLAIRS-97, a special issue of the NL Engineering Journal is planned with extended versions of selected papers from the special track. Those papers will go through an additional review process. The issue will be co-edited by S.Luperfoy and W.Zadrozny. NACCL-9 IS IN CANADA! The Ninth North American Conference on Chinese Linguistics will be held May 2-4, 1997 at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada CALL FOR PAPERS Deadline for abstract submission: Nov. 15, 1996 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks on all aspects of Chinese linguistics using any theoretical framework. The abstract should be typed on one page of 8.5" by 11" letter-sized paper using a size 12 font (for English). A second page may be used only if references and/or brief examples are included. Abstracts will be anonymously reviewed. Notification of acceptance along with a preliminary program will be sent through email or snail mail (where email is not available) by February 15, 1997. Registration fee is $60 Canadian Dollars ($45 US) before April 1, 1997, and $70 ($52 US) after. Languages for the conference are English and Mandarin Chinese.
