Hallow! I intend to write a research paper on "Teaching Vocabulary Building". My paper will touch the following issues; 1-Analysis of existing methodology of teaching vocabulary in Pakistan at intermediate level. 2-Needs analysis in this regard. 3-Introducing communicative approach toward the teaching of vocabulary. (Presently G.T.M is followed) Could you please help me providing some theoretical material regarding communicative approach toward vocabulary teaching? Dear listers, I am a student doing analysis on English speech of NNS in terms of the cohesion and coherence by the model of Beaugrande and Dressler (l981). Also, the planning and unplanning of the speeches are to be discussed. Compared with the cohesive analysis of Halliday and Hasan (1976), Beaugrande and Dressler's model seems less frequently used. Is there any related research derived from their model, especially focused on spoken language? I appreciate any relevant information. Thank you very much in advance. Dear Linguists, has anybody read the article by C.Doughty:'Second Language Instruction does make a Difference', in Studies in SLA, 13: 431-469 (1991)? Do you know of any comments or published responses on this article? For my research on the effect of instruction on SLA it was interesting to read, since Doughty considered a lot of important issues in her study, but it also left a few questions, e.g. were 10 days enough to ensure that the instructed features had really been acquired? If anybody has read this article and has an oppinion on it or knows about further comments, I would be glad to hear from you! Thanks, Tanja LanghorstMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
