A prototype of the the Video Database of Russian Sign Language
can be seen at the following URL
http://weber.u.washington.edu/~jkautz/russian.sign.video.html

At present the site contains GIF animations of Kinship terms and wh
words in Russian Sign Language. I would appreciate any feedback you
might have on how the animations play on your web browser. e.g. too
slow, too fast, etc. Thank you. Joseph Kautz

Subject: The Ablex Editorial Studentship
ABLEX EDITORIAL STUDENTSHIP

The Ablex Editorial Studentship has the dual aims of promoting
advanced research in the fields of bilingualism and cross-linguistic
studies of language acquisition, development and impairment and
assisting the Editors of the International Journal of Bilingualism
(IJB), published by Ablex Publishing Corporation, in editorial and
administrative matters of the Journal. Applications are invited from
British or EU nationals with at least an upper second class honours
degree, or equivalent, in either linguistics, psychology, or speech
sciences. Relevant work and research experience, good written and
oral communication skills, and familiarity with the use of the
Internet and word- processing software would be an
advantage. Knowledge of languages other than English is desirable, but
not essential.

The successful candidate will be registered for a PhD in the
Department of Speech, University of Newcastle upon Tyne. The
Studentship covers maintenance and fees at the same level as UK
research council studentships and is tenable, from 1st January, 1997,
for a maximum of five years subject to annual review.
