We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Hello,

I would need to contact Otmar Werner, Professor in 'Skandinavistik' in
Germany. Could anyone inform me about his e-mail or conventional mail
address? I am sorry to bother you with this kind of trivia, but my
searches on the web have not given any result and this is very
important to me!

Many thanks - Jan Lindstrom

Message 2: Request for help - application to a UK university

Subject: Request for help - application to a UK university

I'm preparing an application for an MA course in Linguistics (starting
in October of next year) at a UK university (not the one I currently
work at). It's more than twenty years since I completed my first
degree, and I feel I need some advice on some aspects of my
application, such as choice of referees. I wrote to the department in
question, but they declined to offer any advice until they had
received my application, so I found myself in a Catch-22.

If anyone with experience of admissions to similar courses feels able
and willing to advise me, I'd be very grateful indeed if they would
e-mail me.

Dear Colleagues:

I am writing this request for a student, who is interested in pursuing
MA/PHD studies in the area of language policy in the former Soviet
Union. Does anyone have any information on such a program at your
institution or at another or know of anyone interested in this
problem? Please send all replies to: kemcni00mik.uky.edu Thanks in
advance. Regards, J. Rouhier-Willoughby
