The Department of English and the Program in Linguistics at Iowa State University announce a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, subject to final budgetary approval, beginning August 15, 1997. We are seeking someone with pedagogical expertise in ESL/EFL who will play an important role in a program that includes a BA in Linguistics and an MA in TESL/Applied Linguistics, and that is exploring a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics. Candidates should have experience in using computers innovatively in language teaching and publications in classroom research. Background in one or more of the following desirable: K-12 ESL, literacy, curriculum design, program administration, distance learning. Candidates should also be prepared to teach introductory courses (including syntax or phonology) to linguistics, TESL, and English undergraduates and graduates. Ph.D. required. Salary to be negotiated.
