Job Opportunity for a Software Engineer Sharp Laboratories of Europe Ltd based in Oxford are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Language Technology group working on a variety of natural language applications involving dictionaries, translation and information retrieval. Candidates should possess a good Honours degree in Computer Science and between 2 to 5 years industrial experience, preferably in a production environment. We require industrial development level skills in C/C++ especially on PCs and knowledge of graphical user interface design. Specific knowledge and experience of one or more of the following would also be an advantage: - Internet programming (e.g. Netscape plug-ins, Java, HTML) - automata theory and compiling techniques - data compression - formal specification - symbolic programming languages - software localisation - foreign language(s) The successful applicant will initially be responsible for developing multi-platform natural language application software for delivery to product development divisions. Further duties will include administration of the group's Sun and PC network. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with good communication skills, maturity, initiative and flexibility who enjoys working in a team.
