Job Opportunity for a Software Engineer Sharp Laboratories of Europe Ltd based in Oxford are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Language Technology group working on a variety of natural language applications involving dictionaries, translation and information retrieval. Candidates should possess a good Honours degree in Computer Science and between 2 to 5 years industrial experience, preferably in a production environment. We require industrial development level skills in C/C++ especially on PCs and knowledge of graphical user interface design. Specific knowledge and experience of one or more of the following would also be an advantage: - Internet programming (e.g. Netscape plug-ins, Java, HTML) - automata theory and compiling techniques - data compression - formal specification - symbolic programming languages - software localisation - foreign language(s) The successful applicant will initially be responsible for developing multi-platform natural language application software for delivery to product development divisions. Further duties will include administration of the group's Sun and PC network.
