Workshop on Definites De Dag Groningen (NL), 28 November 1996 On Thursday, November 28, a workshop on the syntax and semantics of definite noun phrases will be held in Groningen, the Netherlands. This workshop brings together young researchers in the area of logic and language, who will shed a light on this topic from various angles. The workshop concludes with a panel discussion led by Jeroen Groenendijk, Sjaak de Mey, and Henk Verkuyl. Nine, relatively short, presentations are given by various people on the following topics: * Leonie Bosveld-de Smet (Groningen) Generic definites; * Kees van Deemter and Emiel Krahmer (Eindhoven) Presuppositions as Anaphors, and Vice Versa: Towards a Full Understanding of Partial Matches; * Paul Dekker (Amsterdam) Definiteness in Perspective; * Jaap van der Does (Amsterdam) (Non-)quantificational Treatments of (In)definites; * Herman Hendriks (Utrecht) Information Packaging and "Association with Focus"; * Helen de Hoop (Groningen) Scrambled Definites; * Edith Kaan (Groningen) Definiteness in Parsing; * Manuela Pinto (Utrecht) Definite Subjects and Inversion; * Yoad Winter (Utrecht) Codistributivity of Plural Definites.
