CALL FOR PAPERS 11th Annual International Conference on Pragmatics & Language Learning April 17-19, 1997 Organized by The Division of English as an International Language and its Intensive English Institute University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Papers are welcome on any of the following topics: 1. the contributions of pragmatic competence to overall language proficiency 2. descriptions of specific facets of English discourse 3. contrastive pragmatics/discourse analysis 4. developments in pragmatic research and methodology 5. integrating pragmatics into the language problem ... and related topics Papers should be 20 minutes long with 10 minutes for discussion.
