Dear Linguists, I am researching on the use of jokes in conversation among college students from Middle Eastern countries, with varying degree of proficiency in English. The languages of my concentration are Turkish, Arabic, Persian and Urdu. I am looking for articles and books on humor-joke-verbal play in the above mentioned languages or any theoretical work in English dealing with the above cultures in the same subject(s). Thank you for your help. Please respond to my email address: <gokdayiMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issueu.washington.edu> I'll try to post a summary.
Dear colleagues, some time ago I bought a program called 'RENUMBER': renumber is a program very usefull for those scholars that use numbered examples in their texts and often are in need to change the numbering (because one can add an example or delete one). I do not remember where I bought this program in the States. Can you help me? I need, in particular, a Window '95 version of the program. Please, answer to my private address (g7mMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuedns.unife.it). Many thanks. In February of this year, this list announced the creation of a new journal, the 'Moscow Linguistic Journal'. I have been trying for some time now to get in touch with this journal through the e-mail provided, namely : <apldMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuerggu.msk.su>, but the address seems to be wrong. I have not been able to locate any of the members of the editorial board, nor the university site on which depends the journal. Could anybody give me a reliable address where I can get in touch with this journal ? Sorry to bother the list with such trifle problems. Thanks, Jerome Serme.
