The MLTT group at the RXRC (Grenoble, France) has a new web site: http://www.rxrc.xerox.com/research/mltt/. MLTT stands for Multilingual Theory and Technology, RXRC for Rank Xerox Research Centre. From the MLTT home page you can access demos that illustrate some of the research at the Grenoble site. The demos include: finite-state calculus compiles a regular expression into a finite-state network and applies the resulting network to strings. morphological analyzers for English, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. part-of-speech taggers for the seven languages listed above. language guesser knows about thirty languages. A sample text of five words is usually enough for correct identification. The finite-state page also includes articles about regular expressions and finite-state networks written for the benefit of a novice user. Examples are provided to illustrate some applications.
