Message 2: New web site for Xerox linguistic research in Europ

From: Lauri Karttunen <lauri.karttunengrenoble.rxrc.xerox.com>
Subject: New web site for Xerox linguistic research in Europ
The MLTT group at the RXRC (Grenoble, France) has a new web site:

 http://www.rxrc.xerox.com/research/mltt/.

MLTT stands for Multilingual Theory and Technology, RXRC for
Rank Xerox Research Centre. From the MLTT home page you can access
demos that illustrate some of the research at the Grenoble site.
The demos include:

finite-state calculus
compiles a regular expression into a finite-state network and
applies
 the resulting network to strings.
morphological analyzers
for English, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish, and
Portuguese.
part-of-speech taggers
for the seven languages listed above.
language guesser
knows about thirty languages. A sample text of five words is
usually
 enough for correct identification.

The finite-state page also includes articles about regular expressions
and
finite-state networks written for the benefit of a novice user. Examples
are provided to illustrate some applications.

Please update any obsolete links that you might have to RXRC web pages.
