For the listserv-Job announcement follows, SCHOOL OF ORIENTAL AND AFRICAN STUDIES University of London Lectureship in Applied Japanese Linguistics (PENDING FUNDING) Applications are invited for a Lectureship in Applied Linguistics (the post is equivalent to Assistant Professor) in the Department of the Languages and Cultures of East Asia from September 1996. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and convene Europe's first MA in Applied Japanese Linguistics as well as key language courses at BA level and Japanese language programmes for non-degree students offered by the SOAS Language Centre. Candidates will be expected to have expertise in language teaching methodology and be able to assume a co-ordinating role for all the School's Japanese language programmes. Candidates will have native or near-native fluency in Japanese, a PhD or ABD, or equivalent, in Applied Japanese Linguistics, and a proven teaching and research record. The appointment will be made on the Lecturer A scale (stlg14,756-stlg19,326 p.a.) or Lecturer B scale (stlg20,133-stlg25,735 p.a.), depending on qualifications and experience, plus London Allowance of stlg2,134 p.a. Membership of USS will be available.
