Dear colleagues, As presiding officer of the Linguistics Session of the 1996 Annual Meeting of the Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association (formerly PAPC), I would like to invite submissions of abstracts on any topic of linguistic research. The meeting will be held November 8-10 at UC Irvine, and presentors must be PAMLA members. Brief abstracts can be submitted to me until April 1. Just to make it clear, this is the Pacific Coast regional division of the national Modern Language Association. Since Linguistics usually comes up short at such meetings, support from linguists in language and linguistics departments would be especially appreciated. If you can't submit an abstract, please consider attending. Please also pass the word along to colleagues. Thanks in advance for your support. Thomas F.
