Note: I got a LOT of responses to my query about the pronunciation of dates in
English. Many thanks to all the respondents. The replies have finally tapered

Dear listers,
 I am a student doing research on how native speakers of Japanese 
acquire Chinese reflexives, which exhibit the following properties: LD 
binding, subject orientation and blocking effect. As mentioned in Katada 
(1991), the first two properties are shown in Japanese as well. It is 
the blocking effect I am bombarded with. Is there such a phenomenon in 
Japanese? Are there any references on the linguistic properties of 
Japanese LD binding? I appreciate any relevant information. Thanks in

Dear linguists,

I am currently working on a research project, and I need to translate
into as many European languages as possible the following data:

1. Running keeps in shape.
2. This leads to conclude what follows (from it).
3. Take the cake mix, one cup of water, and three eggs. Mix well and beat
for five minutes. Remove from oven and cool.
4. Take three eggs. Break into a bowl.
5. Take three beaten eggs. Put in a hot oven for five minutes. Watch
carefully.
6. Put pan over high heat and add water. *See / *Hear boil before adding
other ingredients.
7. Enjoy / *Like as a main dish or as a side dish.
8. Boil noodles. *Consider / *Judge / *Assume cooked when soft.
9. First you take two eggs, half a cup of flour, and three teaspoons of
sugar. *You must beat well and cook for five minutes.??You then serve
while still warm.
10. Take three eggs. ??Try to beat as carefully as possible.
11. *You then try to beat carefully.
12. Take cookies from the oven. *Expect that your children will eat
immediately.
13. Put cake in oven. * Expect to be done in half an hour.
14. Take foil. *Cover cookies with immediately.
15. Mix lemon juice and chopped parsley. *Then sprinkle scallops with.
16. Take cookies from oven. *Give your guests immediately.
17. Separate egg whites. Fold into flour mixture without beating.
18. The dough should be quite firm. Set aside to rise for two hours.
19. Set out on a tray to be served later.
20. Take a crepe. Fold over onto itself and sprinkle with sugar.
21. Eat quickly. (because we are in a hurry)
22. Remove cookies from oven. Eat quickly. (before they get cold).

I would appreciate it if speakers of French, German, Italian, and other
European languages could spend some time translating these sentences for me.
