WECOL 1996 CALL FOR PAPERS (2nd ANNOUNCEMENT, NOTE THE MAY 1 DEADLINE) ----- The Western Conference on Linguistics will be held this year at the University of California, Santa Cruz from Friday, October 25 through Sunday, October 27, 1996. Included in the program are a keynote address by Jane Grimshaw and an invited talk by Junko Ito and Armin Mester. Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks in all areas of linguistics. Abstracts should be anonymous, and should be no longer than one page, with margins of at least 1 inch, in a typeface no smaller than 11 point. An additional page with examples and references may be appended. Please provide 6 anonymous copies of the abstract and 1 copy with the author's name and affiliation. A separate index card should contain the following information: title of paper appropriate subfield author's name affiliation address telephone number (optional) e-mail address (optional) The deadline for receipt of abstracts is Wednesday, May 1, 1996. power1.snu.ac.kr CALL FOR PAPERS THE FIRST SEOUL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PHONETIC SCIENCES Seoul National University (SNU) October 24-26, 1996 Deadline for the Submission of Abstracts : June 30, 1996 THE FIRST SEOUL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PHONETIC SCIENCES will be held in Seoul, Korea to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Phonetic Society of Korea. The Seoul Conference aims to provide a forum for presenting research on all aspects of phonetics and its related fields. There will be two types of sessions : PLENARY SESSIONS : Five leading scholars will provide critical discussion on the current status and future prospects for phonetics, phonology, speech technology, speech pathology and language teaching. REGULAR SESSIONS : Papers will report on individual research in phonetics, phonology, speech technology, speech pathology, and language teaching. Each speaker will be allotted 15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussion. The official languages of the conference are English and Korean. Abstracts should be sent to the address below by June 30, 1996. The abstract should include : 1. Four (4) copies of a one-page abstract (no more than 500 words) with a title; Omit your name and affiliation from the abstract. The one-page (500 words) limit should be strictly observed; a second page may be used for citing references. 2. A 3" by 5" card with the title of the paper, the name of the author(s), the mailing address of the author, and the author's affiliation and e-mail/fax numbers.
