We've just received the following message from Michael Bernstein
at Cascadilla Press, offering you a way to donate to the LINGUIST
Development Fund by credit card. As some of you know, we've been
trying to get our universities to accept credit cards for some
time, but with no success. Now Michael is generously offering
us the use of his Web site, and we are extremely grateful. This
service will continue only through June, however. So if any of 
you wish to contribute to LINGUIST, please do it now.

I don't know whether you receive a lot of notes from LINGUIST subscribers
who would like to donate to the LINGUIST list by credit card. If you do,
we could help out. Read over the web page at:

We haven't announced the page anywhere yet. If you think it's a good idea,
please send a note to the list announcing that address and explaining
that there's now a way to donate to the LINGUIST list by Visa or MasterCard,
using that web page.

We wouldn't make any money at all on this. Our bank keeps the 3.1% fee on
processing the credit cards. (It would actually cost us a bit for other
expenses.) But we'd like to help out. We could forward a check once a
week, along with a list of the people and amounts.
