(I am posting this message for Usha Lakshmanan, who is out of the country at this time and has no access to the Linguist list.) CALL FOR PAPERS I have been invited by Kluwer Academic Publishers to edit a volume entitled "A Minimalist Account of Language Acquisition: Functional Categories and Case Checking." The purpose of the volume is to publish a select number of papers (around 8 to 10) that explore the application of the Minimalist Program, the latest version of the Principles and Parameters approach to grammar, to issues central to Language Acquisition. Crosslinguistic studies and papers on the acquisition of less commonly researched languages are encouraged. Four copies of papers of not more than 30 double-spaced pages should be sent to: Dr. Usha Lakshmanan Department of Linguistics Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Illinois 62901. Papers should be submitted by September 15, 1996. Papers submitted will be peer-reviewed, and authors will be informed about the status of their papers in December of 1996.
