InXight, a recently formed Xerox New Enterprise Company located in
Palo Alto, California, develops leading-edge technology that supports
intelligent information access and markets this technology to software
OEMs for use within their applications. We have an immediate need for
an experienced Computational Linguist to develop applications for our
LinguistX product family. LinguistX provides a collection of advanced
natural language processing components that give software the power to
tap into the information in documents. LinguistX components include
state-of-the-art software for automatic document summarization,
information extraction and morphological analysis. These tools can
improve a broad spectrum of applications ranging from full-text search
engines to handwriting recognition.

Interested candidates should have an advanced degree in computational
linguistics (PhD preferred), with a particular focus on morphology,
syntax, or lexicography. In addition, we require commercial software
development experience using C/C++, Java, Prolog, and/or Lisp, as well
as strong shell scripting/makefile/perl skills. In addition,
knowledge of finite-state parsing techniques and/or two-level grammars
is a strong plus. Experience with Asian languages is also desirable.

Zum Beginn des Wintersemesters 1997/98 ist die Stelle einer
wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiterin/eines wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiters

am 

 Lehrstuhl fuer Germanistische Sprachwissenschaft
 des Instituts fuer Germanistische Sprachwissenschaft
 der Friedrich-Schiller-Universitaet Jena

zu besetzen.

Schwerpunktaufgaben

Forschungs- und Lehrtaetigkeit auf dem Gebiet der germanistischen
Linguistik, insbesondere auf dem Gebiet der Grammatik (Syntax,
Morphologie, Semantik) der deutschen Gegenwartssprache und auf dem
Gebiet der modernen Grammatiktheorie.

Qualifikationsanforderungen

Vorausgesetzt wird die abgeschlossene Promotion (Dr. phil.) auf dem
Fachgebiet der germanistischen oder allgemeinen
Sprachwissenschaft. Der Erwerb einer weiteren wissenschaftlichen
Qualifikation auf einem dieser Gebiete soll vorangetrieben oder
abgeschlossen werden.

Die Stelle ist zunaechst auf zwei Jahre befristet 
(Verlaengerung ist moeglich).

Es handelt sich um eine Volltagsstelle.

Die Verguetung erfolgt gemaess BAT-O IIa.
