The Madison Hotel in Seattle, Washington, will play host to the 20th Annual American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) conference. Listed below are highlights from the conference program. PROPOSALS for individual papers, colloquia, round table discussions, and poster presentations in any aspect of applied linguistics are invited, including first and other language acquisition, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, language and culture, language for special purposes, language and gender, language and the deaf, language and technology, mother tongue/second/foreign language pedagogy, literacy, assessment, rhetoric and stylistics, critical linguistics, language policy and planning, translation and interpretation.
